Torah Scholarship and a Lasting Legacy

Honor Rabbi Ovadia Hedaya, zt"l, with this full-color canvas portrait from Meorot Israel.

Shown wearing his traditional black cap and glasses against a textured blue background, his gentle smile and long white beard give the portrait a warm, dignified presence. The close-up composition keeps the focus on the Rav, with rich blue tones that complement the surrounding space.

A meaningful addition to a living room, study, office, synagogue, or Beit Midrash, this portrait brings a reminder of his Torah scholarship and Sephardic heritage into everyday surroundings.

About The Tzadik:

Rabbi Ovadia Hedaya, zt"l, was born in Aleppo, Syria, to Rabbi Shalom Hedaya and moved with his family to Jerusalem as a child. He taught at Yeshivat Porat Yosef and later served on the Chief Rabbinate Council and the Great Rabbinical Court in Jerusalem.

He is best known for Yaskil Avdi, his eight-volume collection of halachic responsa covering the four sections of the Shulchan Aruch. His contribution to rabbinic literature was recognized with the Israel Prize in 1968.

After Beit El Yeshiva was destroyed during the 1948 war, Rabbi Hedaya worked to renew its tradition of Kabbalah study. He reestablished the yeshiva in western Jerusalem in 1958, continuing a legacy of Torah learning that had shaped generations of scholars.
