About The Tzadik:

Born in Aleppo, Syria, Rabbi Ezra Attiya moved to Jerusalem as a young man and devoted his life to Torah study and teaching. He joined Porat Yosef Yeshiva when it opened in 1923 and became its Rosh Yeshiva in 1925.

Over 45 years of leadership, he helped shape generations of Sephardic Torah scholars. His students included Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, Rabbi Yehuda Tzadka, Rabbi Ben Zion Abba Shaul, and Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu, whose teaching and leadership carried his influence far beyond the yeshiva.

Remembered for his dedication to his students, Rabbi Ezra Attiya made Torah education the center of his life. He passed away on 19 Iyar 5730 (1970) and was buried in Jerusalem. His legacy continues through the scholars and communities shaped by his teaching.
