Rabbi Yosef Chaim of Baghdad (1835–1909), widely known as the Ben Ish Chai, was one of the most influential Sephardic Torah scholars in Jewish history. Renowned for his extraordinary scholarship in Halacha, Kabbalah, and Jewish ethics, his teachings continue to inspire Jewish communities around the world.
As a young boy, Rabbi Yosef Chaim miraculously survived a fall into a deep pit. He regarded this event as Divine Providence and dedicated the rest of his life to Torah, serving the Jewish people with humility, compassion, and unwavering faith.
His most celebrated work, Ben Ish Chai, remains one of the foundational texts of Sephardic Jewish law and is studied by thousands around the world to this day.
