About The Tzadik:
Rabbi Ben Zion Abba Shaul (Hebrew: בן-ציון אבא-שאול) was born in Jerusalem on July 31, 1924 (כ״ט בְּתַמּוּז תרפ״ד), to Eliyahu and Benaya Abba Shaul, immigrants from Iran. His father, a shoemaker and Torah scholar, served as gabbai of the Ohel Rachel synagogue.
At age 11, he entered the Porat Yosef yeshiva in Jerusalem. He studied under Rabbi Yehuda Tzadka and Rabbi Ezra Attiya, who became his mentor, and earned a reputation for diligence and scholarship.
As rosh yeshiva, he devoted himself to teaching Torah. Alongside lectures to yeshiva students, he taught the laws of Shulchan Aruch to dayanim and gave halakha classes at the Ohel Rachel synagogue.
